SAVE OAKVALE MEDICAL CENTRE

FOR LEGAL REASONS THIS IS MY OPINION

LIVERPOOL PCT ARE BULLYING OAKVALE MEDICAL CENTER INTO MOVING PREMISES, THE PATIENTS AND STAFF DO NOT WISH TO MOVE.
THE PCT HAVE CONTINUALLY CHOSEN TO IGNORE THE WISHES OF THE PATIENTS AND STAFF BY BLATANTLY DISREGARDING  REQUESTS TO RELOCATE TO PREMISES CLOSER TO OAKVALE.
LIVERPOOL PCT ARE WORKING IN CONJUNCTION WITH A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY THAT CHARGES EXORBITANT  RENT FOR PREMISES (IN MY OPINION).  THE GENERAL PRACTITIONERS OF LIVERPOOL WOULD HAVE NO OPTION BUT TO PAY...THE TAXPAYERS OF LIVERPOOL WOULD BE LINING THE POCKETS OF ASSURA, THE COMPANY WHO ARE BUILDING THE PREMISES IN CHILDWALL. LIVERPOOL PCT, CLAIM TO HAVE CONSULTED WITH THE PATIENTS, (BY THE ACTIONS AND DEEDS OF LIVERPOOL PCT, IT IS APPARENT THEY HAVE FAILED TO LISTEN TO THE EXTREMELY VOCAL REQUESTS, OF THE PATIENTS AND STAFF TO REMAIN WITHIN THE VICINITY OF OLD SWAN.  ON THE WEBSITE OF ASSURA, THEY HAVE STATED ON THE 3 SEPTEMBER 2010 “In addition to housing the Childwall Valley Road Surgery and Oak Vale Medical Centre which will relocate to the new centre.”  LIVERPOOL PCT HAD PREVIOUSLY CLAIMED TO ACCEPT THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE FROM THE PATIENTS AND STAFF THAT WE DID NOT WISH TO MOVE. (A YEAR AGO...)  IT IS APPARENT FROM THE WEBSITE THAT YET AGAIN THE MEN IN THE GREY SUITS HAVE NOT LISTENED TO THE VOICES OF THE PEOPLE OF LIVERPOOL.
PLEASE WRITE TO YOUR MP/COUNCILOR AND LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU WANT OAKVALE MEDICAL CENTRE TO REMAIN WITHIN THE VICINITY OF OLD SWAN.

Dear
As my elected Member of Parliament, I wish to raise the following issues with you:
1) Oakvale surgery needs new premises to meet the demands of a modern general practice.

2) Liverpool Primary Care Trust would like to move the surgery to the site of the former library at the Childwall Fiveways roundabout.

3) Jella the local pharmacist organised a petition with over 2,000 signatures against this move.

4) The majority of the patients live north of Edge Lane Drive, i.e. on the Old Swan Side.

5) The in-house survey conducted by Oakvale Medical Centre concluded the majority of patients were strongly against the move to Childwall.

6) There is an opportunity to buy the land at the back of the Gardeners Arms pub.  This is exactly opposite where the practise area is now, and is in the opinion of the Doctors and patients the perfect site for Oak Vale Medical Centre.

7) Liverpool PCT are currently not happy to support the choice of the Doctors and the patients despite the fact this is what the patients and the Doctors have requested.

8) Without the financial support of the PCT, the Doctors and the Patients cannot move to the premises at the back of the Gardeners Arms.

As my local MP, could you please intervene to prevent the move to Childwall, and support the move to the location at the back of the Gardeners Arms?

Yours sincerely

Work starts on Assura’s latest LIFT investment 03 Sep 2010
Building work is underway on a £8m health centre facility at Childwall Fiveways, Liverpool, which is the latest investment under the LIFT programme in Liverpool in which Assura is a major investor.

The Childwall Neighbourhood Health Centre will accommodate two local GP practices, a range of community health services plus a neighbourhood library and education facilities for Childwall Sport College.

The £8m project is the latest investment in modern fit for purpose primary healthcare facilities by the Liverpool and Sefton Health Partnership under the LIFT programme (Local Improvement Finance Trust). The partnership which includes Liverpool & Sefton Primary Care Trusts, Assura LIFT Holdings, Bilfinger Berger Project Investments (BBPI), Galliford Try Investments and Community Health Partnerships (CHP) has begun the Childwall centre following financial close for its tranche 4 LIFT programme in Liverpool.

Commenting David Acklam, director of Assura LIFT and a board member on the LIFT partnership said: “The Childwall health centre is latest investment under the LIFT programme which is transforming the provision of primary care health facilities fit for a modern 21st century NHS. “This new facility is both much needed and locally desired with almost eight out of ten local people backing it in consultations by Liverpool PCT earlier this year. Together with the earlier three LIFT schemes, Childwall brings the total investment in new health and community facilities in Liverpool to £73m.”

In addition to housing the Childwall Valley Road Surgery and Oak Vale Medical Centre which will relocate to the new centre, the new 3,116 sq. metre building will include facilities for a pharmacy, phlebotomy, podiatry, sexual health, vaccination, immunisation, plus a range of outpatient consulting and treatment services including minor surgery. The complex will provide added convenience for local residents as it will also incorporate a neighbourhood library and extra sixth form facilities for Childwall Sport College.

The Childwall Neighbourhood Health Centre complex has combined with a library and education facility under a special agreement with Liverpool Primary Care Trust, Liverpool City Council and Childwall School.

Galliford Try has begun construction on site and the new building is expected to be operational by Autumn 2011.
